This rare Maserati was first purchased in Italy on December 29th, 1972 and initially registered on January 22nd, 1973 to the Pescara company owned by Armando Cadora, born in 1932. The vehicle remained in the possession of the family until the beginning of November of 2015 and has since then not been registered to another owner. Mr Armando Cadora hails from a very traditional family of farmers and was the last of thirteen children. In the 60’s, the family moved to Pescara (200 kilometres east of Rome). Mr Cadora eventually grew to be one of the most successful businessmen of… Italy and gained such popularity he even became the president of the Pescara Calcio football team. In the year 1977 the team achieved so many victories it moved up from the B-league of Italy to the A-league, being the first and only team from the Abruzzi region to accomplish this. In the year 1982, a saddening event shook the family, and from that point on things began to change! As an important and quite wealthy businessman, in 1982 Armando Cadora was kidnapped by a well-known group of terrorists and was only released a month later after a ransom payment by the family. Three whole decades later, in 2008, the mastermind of the kidnapping was arrested after he had been gone underground for years. The group was quite active in the 70’s and was linked with many other criminal organisations that spread terror for years and, through the business of human kidnapping, managed to obtain funds equivalent to about five million Euros.
---- Mr Armando Cardora returned to work shortly after his release, but he was so concerned for the safety of his family that from that point on, bodyguards and armored vehicles dominated his everyday life. The Maserati from then on was sparsely used and predominantly kept in a garage on the company grounds. Indeed, this car attracted too much attention in the area around Pescara. Everyone knew Mr Armando Cadora, everyone knew about the incident and everyone recognized the remarkable sports car. Unfortunately, Mr Cadora never fully recovered from the traumatising event and passed away in 1986 at only 54 years of age. His beloved wife Miria followed him in 1993. Their only daughter, aged 23 at that point, was the one of the four siblings who was going to take over her late father's business. She led the company in the image of her father; in a fight against the odds, she brought her father’s neglected business back from bankruptcy. Very few Italians contributed to the foundation of as many successful companies, and therefore to Italy’s economic boom, as Armando Cadora. Many of these men, born into the second World War, rebuilt Italy up from nothing with remarkable determination, and his Maserati isn’t just a car, but proof that anything is possible. Now this piece of Italian automobile history stands for sale, bringing with it a moving background story.
